Intellectual Wellness

Intellectual wellness is accepting your intellectual abilities, with the desire to expand your knowledge and skills.

If you want to know what is going on in the world, are willing to explore, ask questions and seek answers, you are on a path to intellectual wellness.

A life of continuous learning, including discussing new ideas and seeing things from new perspectives, will keep your brain (i.e. you) healthy and alert.

Options for increasing your intellectual wellness

- regularly read books, magazines and newspapers;

- watch discussion programs and the news;

- attend seminars and/or workshops;

- play creative and thought-provoking mental activities and games;

- learn basic nutrition (many nutrition’s are essential to good memory and concentration) and exercise regularly to maximize brain functioning;

- participate in scholastic, cultural, and community activities;

- learn to appreciate art, musicals, plays and exhibits;

- learn to trust your ability to make good decisions;

- become a critical thinker, research both sides of an argument;

- be a creative and resourceful person;

- accept that learning is a life-long process;

- write down your (learning) goals;

- be aware of the resources available (i.e. internet, library, campus)

An intellectually healthy person is open to new ideas, thinks critically, never stops learning, is creative and seeks out new opportunities and challenges.

When you are expanding and challenging your mind you eventually will improve your intellectual health.

Intellectual health or wellness is a vital part of your overall health and well-being.
